Lot 27 Elephant Ivory Tusk Replicas
These tusks are an exact copy of a set harvested from an old nuisance bull and they weighed 35 pounds each.
Managing problem animals is an infrequent but important part of wildlife conservation, and this problem bull was taken along the banks of the Limpopo River at Mapungubwe, South Africa. The tusks are mounted on a beautiful pair of bases made of Transvaal Red Milkwood, a very hard and tough wood which was traditionally used in the making of horse-drawn wagons. The work was performed by Karoo Taxidermy in Graaff-Reinet, South Africa. These bases and tusks will last through the years much better than you will, so don’t fall asleep on this excellent opportunity!
